TOOLS TO KEEP YOUR COMPUTER RELIABLE

Every where I look there are people complaining of slow computers. I have had people asking me what to do about a slow computer so I thought I might write an article helping everyone. These are all tips and tools that I use on my computer as well as my laptop, and occasionally I will do this on other people's computers.

When your computer is running good, it is great. You can get so much done in a short amount of time. There is a lot of people that have online businesses and it is IMPERITVE to keep your computer running swift. And if it is lagging and freezing up, or in some cases you are getting pop-ups and crazy behavior, it can be very frustrating, you just want to take a hammer to it or just turn it off! But if you make money with your computer or communication that is not an option. Here are my suggestions by priority:

SPYWARE The #1 computer lagger. As you are reading this I'd bet you already have some sort of spyware. Most computers have it and you don't know until it is completely overcome by it. Do you use internet explorer? IE causes is an attracter of spyware, as is OUTLOOK & OUTLOOK EXPRESS. YAHOO MESSENGER, MYSPACE IM, AIM, these all cause some sort of spyware. Also where are you getting your Myspace comments? Many have spyware as well. Do you save your layouts on a Myspace layout site, guess what you have just giving permission to include spyware. Think about it, how is it being saved. Many people don't know this or even think about it and these sites know it! Downloading Free screensavers, wallpaper, anything free! Why is it free? I am not saying you cannot get or do these things, but YOU HAVE GOT TO PROTECT YOURSELF AND YOUR COMPUTER! You need a good SPYWARE REMOVER/SEARCHER, but be careful there is spyware software/programs that will put spyware on your computer. click this link to see the "fake" programs --> FAKES
I have tested a many of them, and I suggest these 3 programs because they do the job very well and they don't bog down your computer! (these are all links to the sites)
1-AD AWARE
2-SPYBOT-SEARCH AND DESTROY
3-E-TRUST PEST PATROL
Stabalize your computer now! The reason I recommend 3 is because no spyware program will remove all spyware. But if you use these 3 you will remove a majority of it because what one doesn't get the others will.

VIRUSES There are so many viruses out there today and more are popping up everyday. Viruses are really effecting our modern technology. Viruses are even effecting our GPS systems in our vehicles. I recommend using one of 2 programs:
1-TREND MICRO PC CILLIN
OR
2-SYMNATEC A/V
Pc cillin is awesome if your computer is newer/upgraded but I have noticed it tends to slow down older computers a great deal. If this pertains to you or if you have downloaded the trial of PC CILLIN (click this link for the trial) and it slowed your computer down, Try Symnatec a/v. It is great for older computers. I use this on one of mine, but I use pc cillin on my laptop, because it is a beast and pc cillin scans my wireless connection. Symnatec uses less resources.

FIREWALL If you are not using Pccillin, you will need a good FIREWALL. Especially if you are using WINDOWS XP. Well, I was using MICROSOFT WINDOWS XP PRO SP3 w/vista theme and it seemed much more secure, but it still had vulnerabilities. For a good firewall, I recommend Sygate Firewall becasue Windows Firewall is not reliable or trustworthy.

There are some other tweaks you can do to speed up your computer and add some stability.

I use TUNEUP UTILITIES 2008 and it is awesome. It has some many tweaks. You can clean hard drive, organize hard drive, clean registry, defrag registry, optimize your computer, optimize your internet connection and downloads, and many others.You can get a free 30 day trial HERE.
